2 Capitol Police officers injured during riots Saturday night

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two Capitol police officers are in the hospital with leg injuries after being struck by objects during Saturday night’s riots in Downtown Richmond.

It happened as people were gathered outside Capitol Square shortly after 9 p.m.

Authorities say one officer was struck by a baseball bat and the other by a beer bottle.

Both officers were taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment.
