RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A bicyclist is dead after being struck by a driver that police suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The bicyclist died at the scene and the driver is being held at the Chesterfield County Jail.
Officers say the driver of a 2008 Chevy Tahoe was headed west on U.S. Route 360/Hull Street Rd. near the Manchester Family YMCA around 3:30 a.m. when they hit the cyclist. The victim died about two tenths of a mile from the scene of the initial crash.
Police have identified the bicyclist as 28-year-old Wilson W. Jones. Police have not stated whether the bicyclist was wearing a helmet, reflective vest or some kind of lights on their person.
8News was told the driver of the Tahoe, 34-year-old Michael Moore, was not injured. Moore was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, DUI manslaughter, and felony hit-and-run.

Westbound Hull Street Rd. between Turner Road and Pocoshock Boulevard was closed for much of the morning and middle part of the day on Sunday, as police continued their investigative work.
