Police arrest man linked to Richmond’s first homicide of 2019

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) —  Authorities say they have cleared the first homicide of the year in Richmond following the arrest of 32-year-old Henrico man.

Richmond Police say Tyell Jackson, of the 2900 block of North Parham Road is linked to the murder of Michael E. Halford, 43, of the 4500 block of Norborne Road.

Officers were called to the 4500 block of Norborne Road for a person shot on January 2.  Police arrived to find a man lying on the front porch with a fatal gunshot wound.

Jackson was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder, robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a robbery by a felon. 

“This arrest is the result of persistent police work by the Major Crimes Unit,” said Lieutenant Faith Flippo. “Some cases are solved quickly. Others take some time to put all the pieces together until we can make an arrest. This is one of those cases.”
