CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police have arrested a teen in the death of an 87-year-old man who was found murdered inside a Chesterfield County home on Tuesday.

Police initially launched a death investigation after they were called to a home in the 6700 block of Wentworth Street at around 10:15 a.m. and found 87-year-old Bryan H. Walker dead inside.

Police said his body had obvious signs of trauma and that they are investigating his death as a homicide. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, meanwhile, is working to determine a cause of death.

After identifying the body, Chesterfield Police arrested a 16-year-old male on Tuesday on a charge of first-degree murder. Police said that the suspect and Walker knew each other.

The teen, unidentified by authorities, is being held in Chesterfield County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court until a hearing next week.
