CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WRIC) — The Cavaliers aren’t have the best season in the program’s history, that much is certain. However, Virginia (2-4, 1-1 in ACC) is somehow mathematically still in the Coastal Division title race after two conference games played.
The Hoos host the 22nd ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday October 22nd, at 3:00 p.m. If they are able to upset the Heels at Scott Stadium, and the Virginia Tech Hokies fall to the Miami Hurricanes this Thursday, Virginia will be second in the Coastal Division behind the Pittsburgh Panthers, who are in their bye week.
That said, first year Cavaliers head coach Bronco Mendenhall has no concern of numbers, scenarios or what ifs. He’s concerned about his team’s ability to battle, execute and master each position on the field. He will let them know UNC is a touch opponent that is a consistent winner, then put the focus back on making his team a consistent winner while prepping for a crucial conference matchup this weekend.
