CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) —- Kind. empathetic, and a multi-tasker. Those are the words used to describe Virginia’s newest counselor of the year for secondary schools.
Martha Turner, who works as the counseling coordinator at Robious Middle School in Chesterfield County, received the statewide recognition for her work.
The award recognizes counselors who have made a positive impact in the school with students, teachers and parents.
Turner first started working for Chesterfield County Public Schools in 1989. She has served in her current role at Robious Middle since 2012.
In a news release, Chesterfield County Superintendent Dr. James Lane said Turner’s award was a great accomplishment.
“It’s clear from the many, long-standing relationships that Mrs. Turner has forged at Robious, that she has had a positive, lasting impact on the lives of many students,” Lane said.
