19-year-old hurt when shots fired amid scuffle outside Richmond convenience store

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 19-year-old woman, who was shot near a convenience store in Richmond on Thursday evening, told police she heard gunshots as a small group of people in the area were engaged in a fight. 

Richmond Police told 8News that the woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being shot around 5:30 p.m. near a convenience store in the area of Jefferson Davis Highway and Chicago Avenue. 

Police said there is little information about the suspects in the shooting and it is unclear if the victim was involved in the scuffle.
