2 teens charged with murder in Mechanicsville Turnpike homicide

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two teens have been arrested in connection with last week’s homicide on Mechanicsville Turnpike in Richmond. 

8News is not identifying the two teens, ages 15 and 17, at this time. Both have been charged with murder, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

The deadly incident occurred at around 1:35 p.m. on Monday, September 17, at a convenience store near the intersection of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Carver Street. When officers arrived, they found 23-year-old Joshua A. Grey, of the 7200 block of Riverside Drive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Authorities believe that Grey ran into the store after he was shot near the intersection. 

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
