Chesterfield man charged for stealing unmarked Petersburg Police vehicle

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A 22-year-old from Chesterfield was arrested on Monday after he reportedly stole an unmarked police vehicle in Petersburg during the weekend. 

Authorities learned that an unmarked police vehicle, located in the 400 block of Grove Avenue, was taken on May 12, police wrote in an email. 

Petersburg Police said on Wednesday that Tylin T. Oden, 22, was taken into custody after the stolen vehicle was stopped this next day in Chesterfield. Oden has been charged with grand larceny and destruction of property. 

Police said that no guns, police credentials or badges were taken.
