Chesterfield teen found beaten, shot in Richmond dies at hospital

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A recent high school graduate who family members say was found beaten and shot in South Richmond last month has died at the hospital. 

Police confirmed Monday that 19-year-old Andrew K. Hensely, a recent graduate of Manchester High School in Chesterfield County, succumbed to his injuries last Friday, July 13.

Two weeks prior on June 29, Hensley was found suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound in the 5800 block of Willow Oaks Drive.

Family members told 8News that investigators told them that Hensley had been beaten and was shot once in the head.

The Medical Examiner is still working to determine an official cause and manner of death.
