Former Hanover teacher gets jail time for sex crimes involving student

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) —  A former Hanover teacher who was convicted of multiple sex crimes with a minor was sentenced to two years in jail Friday.

Miranda N. Pauley a former science teacher at Patrick Henry High School, pleaded guilty last October to four counts of proposing sex with a minor and one count of using a computer to communicate sex with a minor. Pauley was sentenced to 25 years with 23 years suspended. 

Pauley was originally arrested and charged in May with four counts of indecent liberties by a custodian and a count of use of a communication system for crimes against children, according to police.

She was subsequently fired by Hanover County Schools. 

Pauley did not have any prior criminal background.
