Former Virginia State Police trooper arrested on child pornography charge

SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — A Virginia State Police trooper has been arrested on one felony count of possession of child pornography. 

Justin B. Hipps, 35, of Covington, was arrested on Friday, April 5.

Hipps was hired by the department in February 2007. He was a trooper assigned to Area 38 in the Salem Division. 

He has been released from service with the department and is being held in the Alleghany County Jail.
