Hanover man arrested, charged with robbing Ashland convenience store at gunpoint

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities have arrested a Hanover County man who is accused of robbing a convenience store in Ashland at gunpoint.

The crime occurred at around 8:30 p.m. Monday night at a convenience store in the 500 block of North Washington Highway.

Ashland Police responded to the reported armed robbery and was told a male suspect entered the convenience store and approached the clerk with a handgun demanding money. 

The suspect, who has been identified as 24-year-old Yasaba Wills of Cobbs Road, fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was later located at a nearby hotel following a joint investigation between the Ashland Police Department, Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and Caroline County Sheriff’s Office.

Willis was taken into custody without incident and charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Ashland Police Chief Doug Goodman would like to extend his sincere gratitude to our law enforcement partners, the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office for their immediate assistance in this case which led to the quick apprehension of the suspect.

There were no reported injuries during the robbery.
