CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities are conducting an investigation in Chesterfield County after police stumbled across a “possible” meth lab in a small shed on Wednesday.

Chesterfield Police told 8News that while attempting to arrest a suspect, wanted for an unrelated crime, an officer came across a small shed behind a house in the 10100 block of Post Horn Drive. The officer immediately left the area and state police were notified.

While officers at the scene recognized items that seemed similar to what a meth lab might have, an investigation from Virginia State Police must determine if the small shed was indeed a home for methamphetamine production, police said.

Chesterfield Police tweeted from the scene a little after 9:30 p.m.

Fire and EMS will stay in the area until the investigation from state police is complete. No other arrests have been made at this time.
