PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities have arrested one man they say is connected to a shooting outside a Petersburg Taco Bell.

Petersburg police say they have arrested Malik Tavon Barnes in connection with the shooting.

Police say they responded to the shooting at about 2 a.m. Friday outside the Taco Bell located in the 3200 block of S. Crater Road.

All three male victims were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries, according to police.

Some residents aren’t surprised, saying it’s just another day in Petersburg.

“It’s unfortunate.”

8News was rolling as investigators cleaned the blood off the ground. Investigators need help identifying those involved in the shooting, Petersburg Police spokesperson Capt. Emanuel Chambliss said.

“Hopefully they’ll find who is responsible and take care of it,” a resident said. “It’s something that is going to take a long time in order to deal with.”

In a statement from Taco Bell, the fast-food restaurant said: “We are grateful that the restaurant was closed and there were no team members present. The franchise owner of this location is cooperating with local  authorities in their investigation.”

But with crimes like this, neighbors are asking for one thing — for Petersburg to be a safer place.
