ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two child-care workers were indicted on child abuse charges last Tuesday after a Dept. of Social Services report alleged an assault had taken place on Daily Drive at Orange County Care on April 25.

The report led to an investigation from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office that spanned over a month. With the help of social services and Orange County Public Schools, investigators were able to get indictments for 33-year-old Jenean Renee Simms and 37-year-old Brookes Michelle Sims on May 28.

Simms was arrested and indicted on one count of child endangerment and a count of child abuse and neglect, the Sheriff’s Office said. Sims was also detained and indicted on a count of child endangerment and one count for failing to report the suspicion of child abuse.

Both women were released on bond.
