Police ID 22-year-old found shot to death on Richmond's southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police are investigating after a 22-year-old man was found dead on the city’s southside Wednesday morning.

Police responded to a call for a report of a person shot in the 1100 block of Floral Avenue around 11:21 a.m. 

Upon arrival police say they located the body of Wiiliam J. Reed, of Erich Road, lying in the roadway.

Police said there is no suspect description to share at this time.

Area residents who were shocked to learn of the deadly shooting told 8News their neighborhood is typically ‘quiet.’

“My mom called me and told me someone had been shot in front of my house,” said one resident who wished to remain anonymous. “I just came home to paramedics, ambulances, police at my house … It was just like, I was in shock.”

Residents are cooperating with police but told 8News they know very little about what took place on their street. 

“Who could it be? It could be my family that got hurt or someone I know. It’s jut like, my mind is racing, full of thoughts.”
