Police looking for info on shooting near VSU campus

CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County/Colonial Heights Crime Solvers needs information to help solve a shooting near the Virginia State University campus.

On Oct. 14 at about 1:55 a.m., Chesterfield County Police responded to a shooting on 3rd Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to witnesses, two groups were at an event at Daniels Gym on the VSU campus when an altercation occurred. One group left the event while the other stayed. Later that night, the suspects saw the victim’s group on 3rd Avenue and pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
