Police: Man wanted in deadly Mother’s Day shooting in Chesterfield turns himself in

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County Police say the suspect in a deadly shooting that occurred just before sunrise on Mother’s Day has been arrested. 

Police responded to the 7400 block of Midlothian Turnpike, in the Chippenham Square Shopping Center, following a report of a man shot.  

Chesterfield Police say upon arrival they discovered a man, identified as Dwayne Reid, 27, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Reid, of the 500 block of Coral Key Place in Newport News, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. 

On Sunday, detectives obtained warrants for Darren Damion Douglas, 29, for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Police said on Thursday that Douglas turned himself in to authorities.
