Police: Whitcomb Court homicide victim ID’d; seek tips about shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One person is dead and another was wounded after a double shooting in Whitcomb Court Friday night.

Saturday, police identified the victim as Timothy Garnett, 28, of the 500 block of Mango Court.

It’s the city’s third homicide this month.

It happened in the 2400 block of Carmine St. just before 7:30 p.m., police report.

There, officers found an adult male lying on the sidewalk at the intersection of Carmine and Bethel streets.

Police say a second gunshot victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

“Although it was at night, there were lots of people in the area at that time who may have seen or heard something,” said Major Crimes Captain James Laino. “With the right tip, we could solve this crime quickly, but we need them to come forward and tell us what they know.”

This past weekend, officers were called to the same area of following reports of a shooting involving a 30-year-old man, according to Lt. Marshal, a spokesman with Richmond Police.

Anyone with information relative to both shootings is asked to contact RPD Detective P. Mansfield at 804 646-6996 or Crimestoppers at 804 780-1000
