Richmond man involved in Lunenburg County fight charged with murder

LUNENBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond man involved in a fight in Lunenburg County on Saturday with people he knew has been charged with murder. 

Deputies with the Lunenburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a fight on Sugar Hill Road on May 11 at 9:29 a.m. Authorities arrived on the scene and discovered two people with multiple injuries. 

A 40-year-old man, identified as Earl Ray Cox, was unresponsive with multiple injuries, the Sheriff’s Office said. Cox was flown to VCU Medical Center where he died from his injuries. A second victim, identified as only a 36-year-old female, suffered multiple injuries but was released after being treated at Community Memorial Health Center in South Hill. 

Terrence A. King, a 50-year-old from Richmond, was taken in by authorities at the scene. King has been charged with first-degree murder, felony aggravated malicious wounding and two misdemeanor counts of property damage. 

King, who reportedly knew the victims, is being held without bond as the case remains under investigation.
