Two suspects arrested in Richmond fatal shooting; teen charged with murder

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A 17-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting that took place last Friday.

Octavis Green, 17, was also charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and robbery. 

Nicholas L. Thomas, 20, was also arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

At approximately 1:58 a.m., on May 11, officers responded to the 3100 block of Alvis Avenue for reports of a person shot. Richmond Police arrived on the scene to discover Russell J. Long, 22, in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Long was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. 

Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
