Woman charged in deadly New Year’s Day hit-and-run that killed pregnant mom

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police have arrested a 42-year-old woman in connection with a New Year’s Day hit-and-run that left a 17-year-old pregnant mother dead.

Sherica D. Nelson, of Chamberlayne Avenue in Henrico County, has been charged with felony hit-and-run resulting in death. Police say she was behind the wheel of a vehicle that struck 17-year-old Tionna Hill on Midlothian Turnpike in the early-morning hours of January 1.

The teen, who was the mother of two and had another child on the way, was rushed to an area hospital where she later died.
