ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WFLA/CNN) — Video out of Missouri shows what appears to be a fight club at a day care, apparently organized by two of the workers.
Though the incident happened nearly two years ago, the mother of one of the boys seen in the video says not enough was done to punish the teachers.
Nicole Merseal says her 10-year-old son took the fight club video on his iPad back in December 2016. He was in an adjacent room with other older kids at the time.
His little brother was in the room next door, crying after three fights.
“He doesn’t understand why his friends were fighting him, why he was beat up by his best friends,” Merseal told KTVI. “And it was on his fourth birthday.”
Two teachers are seen in the video, apparently organizing the fights. One of them kicks the air in excitement and jumps up and down while it’s happening. The other puts Hulk fists on the kids.
Merseal believes the only reason the fighting stopped was because her older son sent her the video. She then called the director to stop it.
“I want them to be held accountable and I don’t want this to happen to any other child,” Merseal said.
A police report obtained by KTVI shows the director of the day care immediately fired both teachers and called the child abuse hotline.
But the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office decided not to prosecute them. They claim there was not enough evidence that any laws were broken.
