Early morning crash closes down Iron Bridge Road for several hours


CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Iron Bridge Road at the intersection of Irongate Drive will be closed in both directions for several hours Monday following a vehicle crash.

Authorities said at about 1:34 a.m., officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Iron Bridge Road at Irongate Drive. The vehicle traveling north on Iron Bridge Road left the roadway and struck a utility pole.

As a result, there were nearly 4,000 customers without power, but the power was restored around 3:30 a.m.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Chippenham Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was charged with driving under the influence.

Iron Bridge Road will be closed for several more hours as Dominion Power makes repairs to the damaged utility pole.

Drivers traveling north on Iron Bridge Road are being detoured onto Kingsland Road. Drivers traveling south on Iron Bridge Road are being detoured onto Cogbill Road.
