VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – ECPI University has joined the list of institutions offering assistance to former students of ITT Technical Institute.
ITT shutdown all of its campuses last week, after the U.S. Department of Education banned it from enrolling new students who are on federal financial aid.
Several institutions, including Tidewater Community College and Everest College, have reached out to ITT Tech students offering help and possible enrollment.
ECPI on Wednesday announced a trial period for eligible students displaced by the for-profit university’s closure.
Qualified students will have the opportunity to take classes at ECPI during two five-week periods before being considered for acceptance.

ECPI University President Mark Dreyfus issued the following statement Wednesday:
“ITT Tech students have been put in a serious predicament. The U.S. Department of Education has advised former ITT students to not rush into a decision and review all options before continuing their education. ECPI University’s trial period allows them to do just that.”
