CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The exit ramp from northbound Chippenham Parkway to Powhite Parkway reopened after being completely blocked off for a couple hours due to two separate accidents, Tuesday morning.
Police say the first accident involved a car hitting the wall on the exit ramp towards Powhite Parkway.
The driver of a tractor-trailer then saw the stopped car ahead on the exit ramp, hit the breaks too hard, and jackknifed.
No one was injured, but Richmond Police closed the exit ramp until conditions were deemed safe and the cleanup was finished.
At one point, there was a 2.5 mile backup on northbound Chippenham Parkway. Police believe speed and weather conditions were factors in the accidents. This is a developing story. Stay with 8News online and on air for the latest updates.
