RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two people and a dog were displaced by an apartment fire that happened Friday morning in Richmond’s southside Friday.
When crews arrived at the complex on Orcutt Lane at around 9:20 p.m., they found heavy flames coming from the 2nd-floor apartment.
Responding companies quickly got water on the flames and completed a primary search that yielded negative results.
As a result, significant damage occurred to the apartment where the fire started. The man and woman requested assistance from the American Red Cross, as they are now without their home.
Police said that some of the other apartments in the complex also suffered smoke and water damage, but it is not clear if any other residents were forced out of their homes.
The building where the fire took place is an 8-unit apartment complex.
