CHESTERFIELD COUNT, Va. (WRIC) — A Hanover County man was charged with animal cruelty this week in Chesterfield County in connection to an incident where a cat was found shot to death with a pellet gun.

Chesterfield County Police said on Wednesday, August 31 they responded to investigate a report that a cat had been trapped and fatally shot with a pellet gun at an office building on Station Road. Once on scene, the remains of a cat were located and collected by Animal Services.

Police say an employee of the business, 48-year-old John N. Ransom, was charged with cruelty to animals.
