Hokies test their mettle on a short week for Miami

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — The Hokies are on thin ice in the ACC Coastal Division race. Coming off a 31-17 upset loss to Syracuse in New York, Virginia Tech (4-2, 2-1 in ACC) must defeat the Miami Hurricanes in their next matchup to keep pace with North Carolina and Pittsburgh.

The challenge is made more difficult by the fact this week’s contest is on Thursday night at Lane Stadium, meaning only three days to prepare rather than the normal four.

First year head coach Justin Fuente understands what must be done to get the best from his players on a short week, and is excited for his first Thursday night game in Blacksburg, which traditionally is the most anticipated on the schedule each season by fans, students and the school in general.
