Hoos’ hoops begins anew in 2016

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WRIC) — It seems like the last three years have all ended like a bad dream. Going the distance in the NCAA Tournament, a large amount of confidence and pride, only to have it shockingly stripped away in a flash of shock and awe.

So now, with the core of that trilogy graduate (Brogdon, Gill and Tobey), the expectation of head coach Tony Bennett, entering his 8th season in Charlottesville, winning a third ACC regular season title for the program in the last four seasons falls upon senior point guard London Perrantes, and juniors Isaiah Wilkins, Devon Hall and Mariol Shayok to carry the mantle.

Additions of the 8th best recruiting class in the nation this year that include Jay Huff, De’Andre Hunter and Kyle Guy, along with Austin Nichols becoming eligible for action after a season on the bench due to tranfer rules will help shape this year’s team, as they start the season on November 11th against UNC-Greensboro at John Paul Jones Arena.
