News

HENRICO COUNTY, Va., (WRIC) — Henrico Fire and EMS worked for hours to extinguish a fire at a county landfill on Charles City Road.

The fire started at 12:26 a.m., Saturday morning. Henrico Fire says the fire is ‘deep-seated,’ difficult to access and continues to burn.

“Long term plan is lots of dirt to smoother it,” Henrico Fire said in an emailed statement to 8News. “Firefighters are rotating in and out of the scene in 4-hour shifts. It will likely take several more hours to fully extinguish.”

No injuries have been reported. An investigation is ongoing.
