SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people were killed and four others — one of them a child — were seriously injured following a head-on crash in Spotsylvania County Sunday night.
According to Virginia State Police, a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling west in the eastbound lanes on Courthouse Road (Route 208) at around 10:10 p.m. when it struck an eastbound 2013 Ford Fusion head-on.
Two of the four adults who were inside the Cavalier — the driver, 29-year-old Stephany L. Hartley of Locust Grove and 20-year-old passenger Richard M. Van Houten of Woodbridge — died at the scene.
The other two adults and one child were also injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
According to VSP, the child was secured in a proper child safety seat though none of the adult occupants were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the Ford, a 40-year-old female from Fredericksburg, was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
