4-vehicle crash on I-64 in Henrico County leaves 1 seriously injured

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person was seriously injured following a four-vehicle crash that backed up traffic for miles on Interstate 64 in Henrico County Friday morning.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. in the westbound lanes at mile marker 203.

Their investigation indicates that traffic was slowing to a stop when an adult female driver of a four-door sedan struck an SUV in the rear. The sedan then flipped around striking a work van and a box truck.  

All drivers involved were wearing their seat belts.  

The female driver of the sedan was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The adult male driver of the SUV was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  

The crash backed up traffic for seven miles, according to VDOT.

Cleanup for the crash is underway. 

Charges are pending at this time and the crash remains under investigation.
