8News honored with wins at Virginias AP Broadcasters ceremony

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WRIC) — The 8News team took home multiple awards and second-place finishes at the 2018 Virginias Associated Press Broadcasters contest on Saturday. 

8News was nominated for seven awards, winning two, during the ceremony at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia. Representatives of thirty news stations across Virginia and West Virginia, submitting a total of 432 entries featuring news and sports stories from 2018, were in attendance. 

First-place awards went to the StormTracker 8 team for Weathercast and 8News’ 11 p.m. producer Michael Stern for Best Producer. 

WRIC also took home a second-place finish in Outstanding News Operation.
