CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Caroline County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning to residents on Thursday of a juvenile bear that has been spotted in the area.

The Sheriff’s Office said the bear has been seen in Bowling Green, near Hoomes Circle and Main Street. Locals have been told not to approach the bear if they see it.

“If you are a safe distance away from the bear, make loud noises to scare it away. Give the bear an escape route so it doesn’t feel like it’s cornered,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote in an email. “Bears are always searching for food, put away outside bird feeders and make sure trash is secure.”
