MECKLENBURG COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The body of a Midlothian man who has been missing since reportedly falling off a boat in Mecklenburg County has been located.

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries told 8News that a recreational boater called the department around 11 a.m. Saturday and said they thought they found a body at Kerr Reservoir in Mecklenburg County.

The department said they recovered the body, which has been identified as 50-year-old Edwin Barnes.

A Facebook post from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office said Barnes’ wife reported that he fell off the rear of a boat while dealing with an issue with the motor at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 16.

The post said the woman began a brief search for her husband and called 911. The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, along with the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department, the Mecklenburg Rescue Squad and the sheriff’s office, responded to the Bluestone Creek Boat Ramp and began a search.
