Capitol Square closing at 1 p.m. ahead of severe weather

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Capitol Square grounds in Richmond will close at 1 p.m. on Friday in anticipation of severe weather. 

The Department of General Services says it expects high winds, possible isolated tornadoes and heavy rainfall. 

The square will be closed in order to protect the public from potential hazards, such as blowing debris and falling limbs and trees.

Capitol Square grounds will remain closed until further notice.
