ABINGDON, Va. (WJHL) — Virginia is for lovers, right?

A special note was found by Virginia Department of Transportation workers earlier this week while they were picking up litter along Interstate 81 in Abingdon.

The note read, in part: “Here are some snacks. I love you very much. Be careful handsome.”

A woman named Diana who lives in Chesterfield County contacted WJHL News saying she is the person who wrote the letter years ago to her husband, who was a truck driver.

It’s unclear how long the letter had been on the side of the road, but Diana says seeing the letter again prompted a smile, as well as a few tears.
