CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield Police have arrested three suspects wanted in the death of a 23-year-old man found dead in a car at the Minit Mart on Courthouse Rd. and Lucks Ln.
Officers responded to the gas station just after 11 p.m. on Tuesday. That’s where they found 23-year-old Tavario Gates, who’d been shot to death. 8News learned that Gates was shot nearby on Ronaldton Road and then driven to the gas station on Courthouse Rd. to find help.
An investigation from police indicates that Gates knew the suspects and had “conspired to shoot a known individual in a vehicle parked on Ronaldton Road,” with them. While shots were being fired, Gates was “inadvertently shot” by another person in the same vehicle he was in, a release from Chesterfield Police said.
Authorities obtained warrants for homicide and other crimes involving the shooting for three suspects. Deonte Thomas, a 24-year-old from Chesterfield, was arrested on Thursday. Jamaar Townes, a 25-year-old from Chesterfield, was taken into custody on Friday.
A third suspect, 23-year-old Travion L. Hargrove, turned himself in around 6 p.m. on Friday.
