Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Four people, including three police officers, were injured following a fire at a motel in Chesterfield County late Sunday night.

The Chesterfield County Fire Department was called to the Interstate Inn on Indian Hill Rd. around 10:35 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, they found one end of the building engulfed in flames. Firefighters got the flames under control in about an hour.

One woman staying at the motel was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say she was burned and inhaled smoke.

“She has multiple injuries from burns to smoke inhalation,” Chesterfield Fire Chief Sal Luciano said.

Three Chesterfield County Police officers are also being treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation. They are expected to recover.

The building is not a total loss, but 33 people living in the motel — including seven children — are now without a home.
