CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A portion of Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County was shut down Thursday afternoon as crews battled a house fire in the area.

Firefighters were called the fire shortly before noon in the 12300 block of Midlothian Turnpike and found a home — believed to be vacant — ‘fully involved with fire.’

All eastbound and westbound lanes were closed for hours so that firefighters could access hydrants on both sides of the road.

Lt. Jason Elmore with Chesterfield Fire tweeted shortly after 4 p.m. that all lanes had reopened.
