CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield family has lost their dog and their home after an overnight fire.

Chesterfield County Fire & EMS were called to the 7700 block of Flag Tail Drive at 1:50 a.m. on Tuesday, where they found the home engulfed in flames. They had the blaze under control by 2:34 a.m.

None of the family members — two adults and three children — or firefighters were injured, but the family’s dog Molly died. Captain Carl Adams tells 8News the house is a total loss and the family will be displaced for a while.

Lt. Jason Elmore later told 8News the fire was accidental and started from an electrical box in the garage.
