One person killed in multiple-vehicle crash on Midlothian Turnpike Saturday evening

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities are continuing their investigation into a multiple-vehicle crash that happened on Midlothian Turnpike near the Cookout restaurant, killing one person.

The crash caused delays for drivers along Midlothian Turnpike around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Police and Fire crews were both on the scene assessing the situation.

A 1997 Mercedes-Benz E320 was attempting to turn onto Midlothian Turnpike when it was struck by a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the Mercedes, 70-year-old Ernest W. Harris of the 4800 block of Bonnie Brae Road, was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the Silverado was not hospitalized.
