Death investigation underway after body found near railroad tracks in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities have identified the man found dead near railroad tracks in Chesterfield on Monday afternoon.

The man has been identified as 51-year-old Sang W. Lee, of the 3500 block of Totty Street.

Officers found him near the 3700 block of Festival Park Plaza around 4:30 p.m., police said.

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police said a cause of death has not yet been determined, but at this point, there are no signs of foul play. 

According to police, it is very possible he was hit by a train.

In May, two teens were struck and killed by an Amtrak train on the same tracks near Chester Village Drive.

A death investigation is ongoing.
