CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond woman is facing multiple charges after authorities say she crashed a stolen Tesla on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning.

Casey M. Vaughan, 25, was charged larceny of a vehicle, possession of a schedule I and II drug, driving under the influence of drugs and driving on a revoked license.

According to state police, a 2018 Tesla four-door was traveling southbound I-95 in the left lane and attempted to change to the center lane, hitting a 2015 Toyota SUV.

Both vehicles lost control, running off road right, state police said. The Toyota SUV overturned and the Tesla hit a guard rail.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. near Chippenham Parkway.

The adult male driver of the Toyota was wearing his seat belt and was transported to the hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries, state police said. Vaughan was also wearing her seat belt and was transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Vaughan is currently being held without bond at Chesterfield County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.
