Standoff in Chesterfield ends after 8 hours with man in custody

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Authorities say the standoff at a Chesterfield home has ended more than eight hours after it began. 

Chesterfield Police surrounded the home on Mountain Pine Boulevard at around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports about a suicidal male with a gun. 

Chesterfield Police say it ended at 3:40 a.m. Thursday and the man — Reginald Hardwick — was arrested by SWAT. Hardwick was charged with reckless handling of a firearm. 

No one was hurt in the incident. 

Chesterfield Police told 8News that alcohol could be involved. 

In the video taken by 8News, police can be heard on a megaphone giving instructions for the person to call them back.
