CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — Nearly 100 gallons of diesel fuel spilled from a tractor-trailer in Chesterfield County, forcing authorities to shut down Whitepine Road for an extended period of time on Wednesday.

Chesterfield Fire Lt. Jason Elmore confirmed to 8News that firefighters responded to a call of a fuel spill of more than 20 gallons before 7 p.m. Elmore said the tractor-trailer’s saddle tank ruptured and dumped 75 to 100 gallons of diesel fuel in the area.

The spill has been contained and a contractor is working to finish the cleanup. No injuries were reported, Chesterfield Fire said.
