Chesterfield police officers thank students who wrote encouraging letters

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Recently, students at Chesterfield County’s Alberta Smith Elementary School observed Kindness Week by writing letters of encouragement to county police officers.

Chesterfield County police officers who received letters then decided to thank those students in return.

“You guys are amazing people, so thank you for your kindess and taking time to show it this week,” one officer said in a video posted on the police department’s Facebook page. “We love you guys.”

Another officer’s letter included more than just a thank you – and asked a question about food.

“My letter asked about going to the donut shop,” the officer said. “And yes, we like every donut.”

Chesterfield County Police Chief Jeffrey Katz said he hopes the students who want to become officers will consider joining the county’s department someday. He added that the students are already changing the world through their kindness.
