Chesterfield Police: Suspect faces DUI, other charges after pursuit ends in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Injuries were reported after a police chase involving Chesterfield officers ended in Petersburg Thursday night. 

Just before 8 p.m., a call came in for a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of West and W. Washington streets. Officers arrived and found a vehicle pursuit involving Chesterfield Police officers had occurred. 

Police add that during the chase, a vehicle was struck by the car officers were pursuing, resulting in injuries. 

The suspect in the chase, identified as only a man by police, was taken into custody and charged by Chesterfield Police with DUI, eluding, driving with a revoked license and defective equipment. According to police, the suspect was charged with his second DUI offense. 

The occupants of the vehicle struck, identified as two women, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Chesterfield Police said. 

The suspect is also facing charges in Petersburg as authorities continue its investigation.
